Artist Statement
I don't know how to paint, and that's precisely why I paint insistently.
Bio
Beatriz Buendia (1998) lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil.
Her relationship to painting began in childhood, alongside her grandfather, a painter, and through her connection to the atmosphere of Embu das Artes, where he exhibited and sold his work. This experience played an important role in shaping her artistic imagination and early interest in making art.
She holds a degree in Public Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and, since her undergraduate studies, has explored different media, including collage and photography. Her practice has developed alongside her work in cultural institutions. She has worked at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo since 2022 and previously collaborated with Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires (2018) and the 12th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo (2019).
Since 2021, she has maintained an ongoing artistic practice, with painting as the central axis of her research. From 2023 to 2025, she studied with Paulo Pasta and, since 2024, she has been studying art history with Rodrigo Naves.
